LEMIC began in 1982 as a self-insured fund at a time when the Louisiana market desperately needed stability. Two original trustees are still with the company. They broke new ground in Louisiana by transforming the company from a self-insured fund into a mutual insurance company on January 1, 1998. They again engineered a change in 1999 to its present structure- a stock company wholly owned by a mutual holding company – in order to facilitate future growth and eliminate the potential personal liability of policyholders that existed under the self-insured fund structure.
LEMIC is a conservative company that is fiercely loyal to its independent agents and policyholders.
LEMIC believes in maintaining fair rates and that its consistent underwriting practices will prove to be successful in the long term over drastic swings in the ever-changing insurance market. This is evidenced by the numerous policyholders who have been with LEMIC since 1982. CCMSI’s experience, market knowledge, and customer service allow us to both add new business and retain valuable customers.
